FUTURE MemberSHIP Meetings

 

֎ Monday, April 10, 2023 at 6:30-pm (note earlier starting time) Elma Historical Society Membership Meeting.  Featured speaker to be John Baronich (a retired Principal from Springville Schools), who is an experienced Civil War reenactor and who is know legible in the Underground Railroad and blacksmithing in the Civil War era.  John will discuss quilt patterns said to be used to guide slaves seeking freedom in the North.  John will also talk about the Zouave Infantry uniform he wears during his presentation, and the fourteen quilt patterns on the quilt he constructed, patterns which were used to guide slaves on their perilous journey North.  John will discuss local Underground Railroad sites, e.g., homes, churches, etc. which were said to be a part of the Underground Railroad.  These sites were kept highly secret in this era, so knowledge is limited.  This meeting is open to the public; and light refreshments will be served. Elma Historical Society membership meetings are held at the Elma Senior Center, 3007 Bowen Road in Elma, which is handicapped accessible.

֎ Sunday, June 11 at 12-00-noon at Elma Village Green Park Elma Community Day with Car Show and much more (details TBD). See preliminary flyer below.

 

֎ Monday, November 13, 2023 at 6:30-pm (note earlier starting time) Elma Historical Society Membership Meeting.  Featured guests will be Kevin Hatton and Richard Big Kettle to discuss Chief Big Kettle, and history of members of the Seneca Nation in Elma.  This meeting is open to the public; and light refreshments will be served. Elma Historical Society membership meetings are held at the Elma Senior Center, 3007 Bowen Road in Elma, which is handicapped accessible.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30-pm (note new time) at the Elma Senior Center, 3007 Bowen Road. No meetings are in July or August. Refer to the latest newsletter on the News page.
