● HURD & BRIGGS SAWMILL OPEN FOR SAWMILLING DEMONSTRATIONS ALL SUMMER; see how timber was sawed using only water power just as the many mills in Elma did 100+ years ago; every Thursday afternoon and every 1st & 3rd Sunday afternoon from 1:00-to-3:00-PM the Sawmill will be open for sawmilling demonstrations (closed 6/19, Fathers' Day). We've recently completed a major rebuilding of the Sawmill, and have upgraded the antique machinery as well, so please consider a visit. The Hurd & Briggs Sawmill is also open by appointment, and is handicapped accessible. Any visitor will receive a free refrigerator magnet to show they've visited the Sawmill. The 3"x3" flat magnet honors the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Hurd & Briggs Mill. It's designed to emulate an old Magic Lantern slide. While supplies last.
The Hurd & Briggs Sawmill commemorative magnet is at left. The Sawyer logo is adapted from the one of a kind weathervane on the Mill's cupola, designed by famed Elma artist and metalsmith Louie Zimmerman.
